“I think that could be interesting going forward, a unification fight with the winner of that contest would be a good match,” Dan Henderson told Telegraph Sport from his home tonight.
“I’m the Strikeforce light-heavyweight champion, I’ve beaten Fedor, and I’m unemployed, so we’ll have to see what the talks are now after I’ve had a few weeks off. It’s not a bad position to be in though.”
“I’m not really looking to go back to middleweight (vs. Anderson Silva). I’m happy at light-heavyweight. It’s where I feel most comfortable."
Remember when Hendo fought for the LHW and MW titles against Rampage and Anderson Silva immediately? That was a good idea, I want to see that happen again. I always thought Jake Shields was going to fight Anderson Silva in his first UFC fight for the unification, just like Hendo. Anyway I don't see the problem with giving Hendo another unified LHW title shot. It would certainly save them time from figuring out who gets to fight for the belt next.
Not that I mind the +4 month delay in title fights as injuries and other fights happen, good stuff, but now Tito Ortiz will fight less than 2 months since his last victory. Look what happened to Jon Jones, he dominated Bader and Shogun just 6 weeks later. And Chris Leben was victorious only 2 freakin weeks between fights. Yes not every fighter to step up a few weeks since their last bout may do as well if they had more time to train, but I'm curious to find out what would happen if title fights were to occur every 1 or 2 months consistently.
I feel that if Rashad beats Tito he deserves the shot first, and there is a good story line between both possible fighters. Which now that the UFC is liek a soap opera....its important
So will any SF champ actually defend their title a few times before defecting? Dan Henderson's contract with Strikeforce is over. He's a free agent and can go anywhere he wants. It'll be interesting to see where he does go considering that Zuffa now controls Strikeforce.
They can't pass over Rashad again if he beats Tito. Too much money to be made between Rashad vs. Jones/Jackson winner, even more than Henderson would do.
Give Henderson a fight against Machida and the winner of that could be the next challenger after Rashad.

What if Rashad loses? Tito vs Hendo for no. 1 contender status?
