@Flyinjudoka: USADA meeting @AmericanTopTeam today,@ufc fighters CANT USE IV AFTER MAKING WEIGHT,whole lot of fighters will be moving weight classes#USADA
fraz1001 - How they gonna police that? That's what I was thinking
fraz1001 - How they gonna police that?1st step: ban Mike Dolce from the sport of mma
Wtf that isn't an illegal substance. It won't stop fighters from cutting big weight. It will just make it more dangerous for them.
Stupid ass rule.
I'm actually okay with this. If you're cutting so much weight that you need an IV bag to rehydrate, it's obviously not a healthy cut.
Edit: That is if it forces fighters to move up. If they just keep cutting and killing themselves, I guess that's pretty shitty, but that's on them.
Wow that's a game changer
I didn't even knew guys used IV after weigh-ins. Isn't that dangerous?
Most dudes I just see them eat and drink like mad.
Good
That's fucking bullshit. I'm tired of these assholes trying to "clean up" the sport. There is nothing illegal about an IV
@JESnowden In case you're curious, almost every UFC fighter currently uses an IV to rehydrate after weigh ins. 1st person I recall was Randy Couture.
Obviously its performance enhancing saline in those bags...
Weight cutting cheats BTFOOOOO

This. Not allowing the IV makes it more dangerous for them when they step in the ring.
Quality of fighting will suffer due to performance issues if they have a way of enforcing the policy. What stops a guy from rehydrating in his hotel room.. Fighters will not move up a weight class.
Are they paving the way for a BJ Penn comeback?
In seriousness, is this a measure to stop huge weightcuts? Another thought that crosses the mind is it can help stop blood-doping (like EPO).
The issue isn't it being a PED, the issue is if they want to randomly test you after you step off the scale, the IV will make your test results inaccurate.
I'd be surprised if it's not a case where there is a time frame involved. " No IV's for 4hours after weigh in" or something along those lines.

finally some good and healthy rules in MMA
Blood doping, the use of red blood cells from any source, or otherwise artificially enhancing the uptake, transport, or delivery of oxygen, is prohibited. Any type of intravenous (IV) manipulation of the blood or blood components by physical or chemical means is prohibited.
