Werdum:"If I didn't pull guard so much, I'd win"

If didn't do so much buttflopping he would have won. When he applied pressure on the feet Overeem was wilting, as Overeem tends to do. Someone in Werdum's corner should have told him to change tactics.

Get a takedown dumbass Phone Post

He only hurt his knee flopping like a fish...overreem would have hurt him standing...he backed up to help avoid shots and strikes...pushing forward into shots and strikes is not very smart Phone Post

BigWilliam - If he didn't pull guard so much Alistair would have knocked the fuck out of him.

I don't know ... if he didn't pull guard so much he might have knocked the fuck outta Overeem since  he actually almost did but as soon as he did... BUTTFLOP!

The dumbest transition in this sport: Clinch->knee->knee->knee->uppercut->uppercut->overhand right---> BUTTFLOP!

allow butt scooting and soccer kicks....should make everyone happy

This isnt NAGA aint nobody going just go right into your guard because thats what you want. DUMB ass argument ...

Ill have to rewatch it, but i thought he hurt his knee falling forward the one time i remember Overeem hurting him with a knee to the face.

Like i said, ill have to rewatch it.I could be wrong about that.

If he didn't lose, he would have won. Great analysis by Werdum.

yeah i mean really.. he knee was perfectly fine for the first round and had nothing do with an injury and there he was just a BUTTFLOPPIN' ASS sensation.

Nobody has to do anything, it's a fight.

If you want it on the ground, then take your opponent there.

I just didn't think this fight was a bad fight, there have been way worse.

So here is the question..

If you are in a fight, and you are landing damaging strikes on the guy, why would you butt flop?

I have no answer to that question. But this question...

If you are in a fight, and landing strikes on the guy, why would you butt flop?

Because the strikes are DOING NOTHING.

Your analysis could really not be more wrong.

Like I said, only thing that kept him from getting KO'd was guard pulling and flopping, he fought to survive, not win

Go on.

Tell me Werdum's master plan. Why did he decide to butt flop and go for sloppy guard pulls when he was doing SO MUCH DAMAGE on the feet?

I think Overeem hurt his knee when he threw him down in the 2nd, which is also the same round in which Overeem hit him with a huge knee. He began to get up like it was a rainy Sunday afternoon after that.

this.

Overeem threw him to the side the same way he did Rogers, immediately after that Werdum started having problems with his leg. He took so damn long to stand up but after that he seemed fine, I actually thought he was faking the injury to lure Overeem in... apparently not.

Hey Werdum and other butt-scooters-

If you want to fight on the ground, learn some takedowns. Just cause Fedor was dumb/badass enough to jump in your guard, does not make all your opponents required to do so. And Butt-scooting while waving them towards you is not a takedown.

Because he was scared of Overeem's power, which is why he buttflopped at the first sign of danger like 20 times.

When you're landing punches and your opponent is stumbling straight backwards and covering up, your striking is effective. Even if you're not personally confident of getting a KO, if you're pushing your opponent back and landing on him, you're winning the fight in the judges eyes. If Werdum had the guts to stay in the pocket and keep the pressure on (similar to the way he fought Pezao) he could have won, but he didn't.

I don't mean to fighter bash but that was a lousy excuse of fighting on Werdums part. He had one gameplan and no back up plan. it's a shame to think he actually got Fedor to fall for this bs. werdum, grow a pair and learn to fight(not butt scoot like a dog with shit stuck on its ass). Phone Post

You're right. He "could have" won. But more than likely, he would have got KTFO'd, and he knew it. Which is why he butt flopped and had no intentions of actually striking with Overeem, other than moving forward with pitter-patter punches, and waiting for Overeem's counter so he could employ his strategy of falling over.

Like you ignored in the other thread, Overeem has looked the same way against guys that everyone knows hits harder than Werdum, and ended up knocking those guys out because they didn't have the ground to escape to.

You may continue hating without my interference.
