I was just wondering what everyone here thinks of him?
I trained at his facility and heard loads and loads of strange stories about him.
What do you think?

He was great. What else can you think about a two time Olympic Gold medallist?
I like his book he wrote w/ George Kerr. Never heard any strange stories about the guy.
i heard some stroeis.. but, stories are just that...
JG said all there is to be said about his as a player. as a coach, from what i understand he is at odds with the AUT federation and even the IJF on some things and wants to see some changes that might help judo become more popular in places like the USA...
What kind of changes?
well, i have talked to lots of people in austria, various guys, jiu-jitsu, judo and sambo trainers, national and international.
while training for the `84 olympics he used to injure the entire austrian team on purpose in order to be at the olympics.
well, he won so he was the best, no question.
nowadays he trains judokas that really want to become top juso players, no others, almost tossing everyone out who doesn`t train 6 times a week which can be a hard task for most youngsters.
loads and loads of them quit after some years because all he does is humiliate them.
i once fought one if his top players, this guy was hilariously fit.
thats what i
ve heard.
BAD MOTHA-FUGGA W/O A SHADOW OF A DOUBT.
dang that's a pretty interesting story bluenblackeyes.
wanna hear more?
yes, please!
His book is very interesting.
from what i understand.. a world cup like in skiing. where there are major international events that every country must attend if they want any chance in qualifying for the worlds or olympics, etc... this would shake things up a lot.. no more continental stuff to find out who the top in the world are--youll know becuase they made it to the big show.
the way it is right now, its the best from this continent vs that continent and the top in the world from last year mixed in..
personally, i like his ideas.
If Seisenbacher ever comes to So Cal, and wants to do seminars or camps, I'm gonna be the first one to try and get him.

Well, there ya go. He's interested in people who can become top judo players. If he thinks it takes 6 days a week, why should he care about guys who give less? He doesn't care how many quit. He cares about the 1 or 2 guys who can get to the top.
More stories...
judo guy,
i totally, 100 percent agree with you.
no question.
hes like a drill sergeant, he has an outstanding idea of what a fighter should be like, he will wear out 100
s to get one champ.
unfortunately people think of him as a creep, a weirdo here, he doesnt make anything of his talent and past is what people say.
t do commercials, he isnt media-present, there are no champs following his footsteps,..etc.
he doesn
that`s why i ask what you guys think of him or heard.
hi blueandblackeyes,
Well, I don't know him personally. All I can say is I look at his competitive results and I realize that he knows how to win. He wrote a pretty damn good book as well.
When people say he doesn't do commercials, what does that mean? Is he turning down offers? It has been 17 years since he won his second gold medal. Maybe there isn't that much interest in Seisenbacher anymore?
The comment about him not making anything of his talent doesn't make sense to me. He won 2 Olympic gold medals. Can't make much more use of your talent than that.
Because he won a gold medal doesn't mean he's gonna be the best coach. Or, it can be that he doesn't have the right people to train in a system that he teaches.
You say that he is trying to train athletes, so I don't know how you can say he's not making anything of his talents. Maybe people are disappointed that his coaching talent might not live up to his competitive talent? There are many examples of that in the world. In every sport.
hi judo guy and others,
well i know him, i think hes an outstanding athlete and defeating the japanese in the 80
s was thought of as a miracle, no question.
hes made the sport popular in europe, especially austira, certainly.
s doing, why he is never present in public, etc...
training athletes is great, no question.
the austrian sports community kind of looks down on him nowadays, he gets lots of money to raise athletes, but nontheless everyday people wonder what he
he is not interested in media, commercials at all.
dont get me wrong, i think he
s great.
hi blueandblackeyes,
Ok. Now I see what you're getting at. Didn't know he was paid alot of money by the Austrians to do those things.
Yeah, if he's getting paid and not promoting the sport, shunning the media, pushing athletes away etc., that is a problem. He should be fired or be held accountable, if its his job.
you shouldve seen his facility.
m not bullshitting you, it was framed with marble, leather couches at the entrance, the fee is rather low, there were two big halls to train plus one gym, nice showers,..etc.
i
very nice place, noble to say the least, i think its gonna be closed, though.
d train som kinda superstar again, i feel sorry his fame has reduced so greatly.
i wish he
Sounds like good work...if you can get it.
I always liked his book. One of the first Judo books I ever bought. Found it by dumb luck.
