Crap, how did I forget Phillipines and Pacquiao
the guy is so marketable there he's not only in movies and music, he's a god damn elected official
doesn't get much more marketable than that
iGotMauledByRumblesJohnson - Jonathan GouletEddie sanchez imo
krs82 -Carson's Corner radio show -
Depends on the market, I'd say by country -
England - Frank Bruno, Ricky Hatton, Sir Henry Cooper
Ireland - Barry McGuigan, Carl Frampton "The New Barry McGuigan"
Wales - Calzaghe, that thin guy who got killed in the ring in the black and white era
Scotland - Donnie Hood, Ricky Burns (distant 2nd)
France - Marcel Cerdan
Spain - Vega (Balrog)
Mexico - Canelo, Jorge Kahwagi, Oscar (also US)
Panama - Roberto Duran
Germany - Klitschkos, Dariusz Michalczewski, Sven Ottke, Schmeling, Marco Huck
Australia - Sonny Bill Williams
South Africa - Frans Botha
United Staets - Sugar Ray Robinson, Ali, Tyson, "The Fighting Marine" Jack Tunney, Max Baer (he marketed himself), Jack Johnson, Jack Dempsey, Oscar again, "The Golden Greek" Jim Londos
Canada - David Lemieux
Great list
for canada I think you have to add GSP and possibly Lennox Lewis
GSP was gold in canada while on top
Some portions of Canadian were behind Lennox Lewis because he was the only hope Canada had for a HW champ.
But few people actually liked Lewis. He was not a very ingratiating dude. GSP is very well known in Canada, and he's also very well liked, so GSP over Lewis for sure, IMO.
Chaelismyhero - Oscar Dela HoyaTommy Morrison...People love a great white hope. Too bad partying and bad decisions cut his career and life short.
Canelo Alvarez
Tommy Morrison
GSP? He had huge endorsement deals and was squeaky clean

I would put Ken Buchanan on that list for Scotland.

Canelo Alvarez
Tommy Morrison
Offensively Tommy was as talented a HW as I've seen. The drinking and the AIDS ruined him.
Greatest left hook ever IMO. Better than Cooney's and Fraziers again IMO
Steve Collins is up there for Ireland as well IMO.
Chaelismyhero -Kostya Tszyu was also pretty popular in australia in his dayCarson's Corner radio show -

Well Ali being the most recognizable man on the planet id assume him.
Outside of MMA conor is not known, he is obviously huge in the sport but Ali is known by everyone, that little tribe in some remote african village knows Ali, outside of MMA conor is known in a few pubs
To put it simply, the most marketable fighter of all time is NOT an MMA fighter.
Kimo.
Ali was the most famous man in the world at one point... this was a rhetorical thread right?
Arlovskis Chin - Steve Collins is up there for Ireland as well IMO.
Yes

No it wasn't but thanks for replying and being an asshole.
SkrapPackRulesAll - To put it simply, the most marketable fighter of all time is NOT an MMA fighter.
Yes.
But that wasn't what this thread is asking.
in MMA GSP A Silva and Gracies
Ali was up there with God at one point but Carson had a very educates list. Even Conor himself says he isn't even in the same breath as Ali. Everyone saw how mad Tyson got when he heard that Floyd said he was greater than Ali.
Either way, Felix Trinidad, Oscar, Canelo, Floyd (they pay to see him lose but they pay nonetheless), Manny Pacquiao, Sugar Ray Leonard, Joe Louis because of his bout with Max Schmeling (World War 2 played a huge part in this).
Hate to say it since they are so new to the game but Ronda Rousey, Conor McGregor and don't be surprised if little Joanna Champion becomes a household name for years to come. These younger fighters need to take a page out of the boxing success cookbook.
