Why Frank?

Why would you implement that kind of game plan? Its like trying to out swim a fish when theres a speed boat available. There was no reason to try and stand with Chung.

" There was no reason to try and stand with Chung."

There was a VERY GOOD REASON to stand with Cung.......he couldn't take him down!!!!

Frank has shit wrestling...

"Both Shamrocks are egomaniacs who try to fight to be exciting instead of fighting to win."

I guess you missed Ken's waltz with Severn...

Yeah, Frank tried to get it to the ground. Cung just shut that shit down, and kept it standing. Frank's knees are the problem imo.

nobody knows what would have happened if this fight had continued. Cung was winning overall. But Frank was threatening throughout the fight.

Good point by kneebraker.

people are talking like frank was out of it. He wasn't, not for a minute.

"people are talking like frank was out of it. He wasn't, not for a minute. "

Uh, yes he was. He couldn't answer the bell and it wasn't totally because of his arm. He collapsed. He was kicked twice in the face. Frank was as out on your feet as you could possibly be.

ppp

(piss poor performance)

Good fight, though!

"He was kicked twice in the face."

Was he? I thought he blocked the first kick, which is what injured his arm, and then took the second kick in the face because he couldn't block with his arm anymore.

Frank tried a takedown early in the first round, when he took Le's back briefly after Le threw a kick. Le shook him off with ease. Frank tried a takedown later in the round, again off a kick by Le, but Le stood back up. Frank's takedowns just aren't very good. Never have been. He said he'd stand with Le for the same reason Tito said he'd stand with Chuck, because he knew he couldn't get the takedown.

Frank landed some damn good shots, though. I actually thought he won the first round, and made the third round close when he rocked Le (but still lost the round). He wasn't out of the fight at any point. Until he injured his arm, anyway.

"Was he? I thought he blocked the first kick, which is what injured his arm,"

looked to me like it went through the block (and his arm apparently)

and still caught him in the head

That was a freakin war and Frank was simply kicked into submission there at the end of the 3rd. Up until that time it was a very close battle!

Are we pretending that Frank didn't have him on the ground, against the fence, and then backed away? He clearly chose not to go to the ground.

He didn't back away. Le escaped. Frank tried to keep him on the ground, went for a guillotine, and Le got out.

I agree with you Ryan G, Cung is vastly underrated with his wrestling and throws; not to mention escape-ability.

frank got spanked. Gradually cung's kicks (esp. the low front leg kicks) took him out of woteva game plan he had.

By the 3rd round Frank was gassed, or damaged, or both. He looked slow & threw extended power shots instead of setting anything up.

With all the hype Frank was talking b4 the fight, I was shocked how little he had to offer.

Maybe kenny has a chance now.

"He didn't back away. Le escaped. Frank tried to keep him on the ground, went for a guillotine, and Le got out."

Maybe we are talking about a different moment in the fight but at one point Frank backed away while Cung was still on his knees. That is letting him up under any definition.

I only remember Cung going to his knees once, and he escaped back to his feet. He threw some spinning kick, Frank ducked it, and went for a takedown. As Le started to stand back up, Frank shoved him down. Le started to stand back up again, and as it became obvious he would escape, Frank went for a desperation guillotine. Le easily got out, and Frank backed off.

Maybe there was another moment when Le was down, but that's the only one I remember.

I watched it again and you are correct. Sorry.
