This is some of the best MMA news in a while...it is virtually impossible to hate on this if you are a true fan.
I get the doubts: injuries, k-1 obligations, suspensions, etc. but we gotta be optimistic people. give coker some props. He just fixed his heavyweight divisions problem.
Desperate shilling, or just being a complete hater. Strikeforce has something potentially exciting, how horrible. 
I have been critical of Strikeforce in past year, but I think this is a breakout show/tourney if it goes off without any hiccups.
With rival orgs champ Cain injured, Carwin recovering, and Lesnar coming off a beatdown... this tournament will definitely be 'the heavyweight division' of MMA outside of maybe JDS for 2011.
They must have decent bankroll with Reem and Werdum in great position to holdem hostage for more money and of course the paper investment that Fedor brings to the bargaining table.. its gotta be brutal to put together so props to Coker.
If Strikeforce cant have a huge year in 2011 with this tournament....then I dont see it happenin simply because the heavyweight divsion as always been the publics flavor of choice among the casual fans..ex: Kimbo.
The Showtime Super 6 Boxing Tourney was great out the gate, but it fell to pieces..b/c injuries, venues, promotors, managers ..etc..
I do hope the tourney is a huge success. I'm excited because the wagering opportunities and volume will be huge..

I'm really excited and I like how Showtime is putting on all these tournaments both in Boxing and MMA.
It's really interesting how this will play out, especially with Fedor and Overeem. I think if Fedor, Werdum or Fedor win this thing that will easily put them in the top 3 HW rankings and probably top 5 p4p.

It's actually really mysterious because the HW division is obviously Strikeforce's one division that rivals or even excels the UFC. If you're gonna hate on SF then it makes sense to stay away from the HW and WW divs ;-)

Anyway Darth BLAF's idiosyncrasies aside the stars do need line up with M-1 and Josh Barnetts licensing issue.
Overeem has already got the K-1 title so we can assume his thirst in that realm has been quenched for the time being.
Sergei/Arlovski is good to get one of them back on track, Arlovski needs this win badly.
Barnett-Rogers isn't not that bad of a match, I see Barnett subbing Rogers and if Barnett pisses hot again then it's not sacrificing a marquee match ala Fedor/Barnett.
The winner of this tournament has to be considered a solid number 2 or even 1 depending on how the UFC HW division plays out, if it's inactive, if Cain loses etc.
In other HW news Mark Hunt is going to fight Chris the CrowBar in Sydney. SOLID!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I voted you up for this. I don't understand why so many mma "fans" decide to hate one organization because it's not their favorite. If you like mma, you have to be excited for the potential awesomeness of what Strikeforce is trying to put together. It doesn't mean you have to hate the UFC, it just means that there are some great fights coming our way from multiple sources. I'm pretty excited about the UFC's Super Bowl card too.
I'm an mma fan, I don't care what organization it is.

It is an awesome idea, and if strikeforce can execute it properly within the year, it'll be absolutely great for them.
It renders the sport more transparent instead of this ADD matchmaking.
I disagree with the starting fights, they should have pit the least favored fighters vs the most favored fighter.
But as a first iteration of a concept in this organisation, i can let it pass.
