What do you guys think?
I say she never has before, so why start now...
What about Cyborg?
She missed weight at her last fight too.
Great thread.
I say they both make it.
This is a great fucking thread. faps furiously
hmmm....a chance to do some advertising......heres an article I wrote on the subject, you should check it out and tell me what you think. http://thefightnerd.com/?p=704
I was wondering about that myself. Hope they both make it cause it's supposed to be a title fight. Looks really unprofessional if either of them doesn't.
I say she comes in 1 pound under.
she has to, its the biggest fight of her career!!!! If she comes in over, cyborg should refuse to fight her,
is this streamed somewhere? time?
Good to see you posting El Dirte...when is your next fight?
The California State Athletic Commission sent this to competitors in the title matches on Saturday, which means Gina Carano, Cyborg, Gilbert Melendez and Mitsuhiro Ishida. You get one opportunity to weigh in. Those is no allowance because it's a title match, so you make your contracted weight or the title match is off. No provision for weighing in later is allowed. The match may go on, but if you don't make weight the first time, it's not a title match.
It's not my intention to bash the girl, but she's missed weight more times than she's made it. The poster child for women's MMA can't even make weight for a fight... lame.
When fighters sign at a contracted weight it's their obligation to do what they have to in order to make that weight and fight. If you can't, then you're in the wrong weight class.
Has any fighter, male or female, ever missed weight more than Carano?
Unlike some people, I don't care how "hawt" she is... If you can't do your job, then I'm not interested in your career.
Not to mention how horribly disrespectful it is to your opponent.
IF she does make, I will gladly eat my words.

Matt Benwa, I'm fighting in Sengoku 10, Sept 23.

How many times did she fail to make 145, though?
Depends if it's that time of the month.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think she's ever made 145 on the first try either. Since making weight means doing it right the first time and not having to come back 3 hours later, I think the answer to your question is "0"
Has she always fought at 145? I thought for some reason she had been competing at 140 because there was more competitions there?

Gina has only fought at 140, and once at 150. Never at 145.

Thanks! I wasn't 100% sure and I thought at least 1 of her fights was at 145, but I can't find any additional info.
Who did she fight at 150?
Also, I thought her first fight was at 135. Anyone know?
The frustrating thing for me is that they really aren't THAT big...it's not like either of these women are 165 or anything. If they are going to be viewed in the same light as male MMA fighters, they have to be expected to make the weight every time. I mean, some guys have missed weight before, but it's very rare. I think between Gina and Cyborg, they have missed weight more in the past year than all the men in the UFC combined.
Sometimes UFC fighters come in over, but typically make it on their 2nd attempt. We're talking about 2-3 a year that don't, and they catch shit forever about it...and call me crazy, but I think UFC fighters are cutting a ton more weight than Gina and Cyborg. If they are a couple over, get the plastics on, and get back in the sauna...none of this "sorry, I was having woman troubles" shit.
I'm actually a huge fan of Gina (not just because she's hot either) and I hope she wins tomorrow, but it drives me crazy when she (or anyone else) misses weight.
