XFL CHAMPS WHO'S NEXT

There are no XFN belts, only XFL belts defended at XFN.

(from what I am pretty sure I was told)

liquidsoul - XFL 205lb Championship
Undefeated Brazillian fighter Edgar Dos Santos vs undefeated Oklahoma kickboxer and mma fighter Myron "The Future" Dennis.

XFL 170lb Championship
The rematch between Dylan "Savage" Smith and Brazillian Marcio Navarro who won a split decision over Smith July 30 at "Rumble at the River 1". WINNER COULD FACE XFN CHAMP JOE CHRISTOPHER

XFL 155lb Interim Championship
Former champ Jonny "King of Late Nite" Carson battles rugged JC Cottrell for the Interim Championship. Kenny Giddens is out until later in 2011.

December 10, River Spirit.

im just saying

Still looks like nobody has a fucking clue, including the people directly involved.

Nutterbutter look at the center section of liquid souls post that I quoted. Dylan smith is the XFL 170 champ and Joe Christopher is the XFN 170 champ. Its right there.

I saw that Larry but have seen other people say there is no such thing as an XFN title. I see no reason to doubt liquidsoul saying that, but I still think the 170 lb situation is fucked up on multiple levels.

Are there XFN titles for all the weight classes? If not why is there one at 170? Why would they cloud the 170 lb picture with 2 belts instead of one, especially if they aren't doing the same for the other weights. I see it like the UFC having champions but also crowning an Ultimate Fight Night champions for their shows that they have on Thursday nights on free TV. Maybe this is apples and oranges, but on the surface that is how it looks to me. It seems to me that better solution would have been to take the 2 "best" XFL 170 lb fighters and just put them in a fight for the vacant belt. I may be wrong, but it seems to me that XFL gave the belt to Dylan but later decided that Levi or Joe were more deserving so they awarded a XFN belt.

When did Dylan win his belt? Was it in the 3 round fight vs 3-0 Aaron Cobb? If so, was Aaron really deserving a title fight? Sure he was 3-0 at the time, but the guys he beat have a combined record of 4-23. Not really high level wins that warrent a title shot when there are more deserving fighters out there.

Why did XFL bother having Navarro fight the XFL champion if he didn't deserve a title shot? Navarro had just lost by submission in just over a minute to Levi, so why would you have him face your XFL champion regardless if it was for a belt or not? Seems like a stupid fight for Dyaln to take and for the XFL to make. He wins, then so what? He just beat a guy Levi just walked through. If he loses (which he did) then what does that say about the legitimacy of the champion or the belt? Is that why the XFN belt was handed out? It seems like that is the case.

So with all of that being said, I stand by my statement that it appears that the people associated with the XFL have no fucking clue what is going on. If my assumptions are wrong, can someone involved better explain what is going on in the last couple of months in the 170 lb division?

Mike Jackson won the XFL championship from Levi Avera. Jackson has been unable to compete on in our organization because of his suspensions for participation on unregulated fights.

Dylan Smith won the "interim" championship in the mean time. He lost a split decision to Navarro in a non-title fight, the two rematch for the championship Dec 10 at River Spirit casino.

Joe Christopher defeated Levi at Xtreme Fight Night 1, winning the innaugural XFN championship.

I don't think it's a negative to have so many great 170lbers all fighting each other.

1-Dylan Smith-the interim champ who tries to avenge his only loss Dec 10 vs Navarro

2-Mike Jackson-the Hit Squad team member who beat Avera and took his belt

3-Marcio Navarro-the Brazillian fighter who beat the "interim" champ

4-Levi Avera-the former champ who beat Navarro

5-Joe Christopher-the Bellator vet who beat Avera at Hard Rock

It will be fun to see who ends up as King of the Hill out of this group in 2011.

o good well thought out response. the point im making is , no matter how dumb it may seem to you or anyone else marcio was offered a fight with the interum champ because his opponent fell off, i negotiated an "if we win clause" and we won. now it is undeniable thet marcio is deserving to fight the champ for the belt since he beat the champ in a non titile match already. marcio wins and fights joe and someone unifies the 2 belts end of dicussion.

Larry- I don't anyone will fault a manager for getting his fighter a chance at a title fight.

liquidsoul- Thanks for the response. On the surface it seems like a reasonable explanation, but... someone a little more cynical might still question what is going on.

Again, are there other XFN belts? Why are you unifying the XFN belt the very next fight?

It's not a negative to have 5 good fighters in the mix. It is however overkill to have 5 fighters fighting over 2 belts. No problem you will say because we are going to unify the titles with the winner of Navarro-Dylan facing Christopher right? If that is the case, then why have 2 titles in the first place if you were planning all along to have the 2 champions face each other as it seems.

That would go back to the idea that the only reason there is a XFN 170 lb belt is because your XFL 170 belt holder just lost and maybe there was 2nd thoughts of him being the real champion.

I keep hearing the term "interim" belt when describing Dylan's title. Interim to what? Interim to the newly created XFN title that was given out after the fact when the XFL champion lost in a non-title fight? The only way that you have an interim title is if the current title holder can't fight for some reason, but is keeping his title until he can fight. In the interim, another belt is handed out with the plan to unify the interim belt with the "real" belt once the original title holder can fight again. That is not the situation here. The title holder was striped of his title. That title was given to Dylan. He is the XFL champion. I can't understand why a XFN belt was given, especially when there isn't a huge depth of talent to pick from and especially when you are going to unify the XFN belt with the XFL belt in the the XFN holder's very next fight.

I don't really care, it just struck me as very very odd. In the end, things will be decided in the cage, but it seems like the 170 lb title situation has been clouded for no good reason.

HAVING TWO BELTS BUILDS ANTICIPATION FOR EXTRA TITLE FIGHTS...THEN ULTIMATELY A UNIFICATION.

But they not "building anticipation" and "ultimately" unifying the belts, it is being done immediately.

The only fight that is contracted right now is Dylan Smith vs Marcio Navarro.

And having 2 belts is fine if you have a huge number of quality fighters that can compete for the belts. That isn't the case here.

It also doesn't explain why Dylan's belt being described as an "interim" belt. That is pretty insulting to him, especially in light of them also creating a XFN belt shortly afterwords.

 Hi Kenny!

That's fine Liquidsoul, but are you saying that it isn't the plan to match the winner with Christopher? It seems like between you and Larry that is where things are headed.I understand nothing is signed, but that is the master plan right?

From what I understood the navarro/smith fight was scheduled before he won the title, he fought for the interim title due to jackasson being suspended from xfl for fighting for fcf. Then jackasson fought for c3 and the state suspended him so I guess that vacated the title. Now Dylan fights Marcio and the winner gets Joe...I don't know how jackasson fits into the picture, but Joey g wants in the mix too. So it looks like the 170 class is starting to get pretty stacked, also Trey h can make 170, our ammy 170 is looking good and should be pro soon. I hear toddhunter is thinking about going pro and moving to 170. Should be a fun year! If all 3 of those guys in that list that made it all the way through the tryouts don't make the show!

Nutterbutter, I don't have a plan with DAC. I am a manager and put fighters on his show. I am not his matchmaker of the XFL or XFN. I wish was but I'm not. If I were there would be more of my guys on the shows ;). I just read in the post where it said the winner of navarro/smith 2 could possibly face joe christopher to unify the XFL and XFN titles.

On another note I am friends with mike jackson, and I mean no disrespect when I say this but he broke the rule about fighting for other promotions in tulsa whie holding the XFL belt and then got suspended for fighting an nsf I think he should be stripped of his belt for inactivity and the "interem" question becomes a moot point.

I'm just saying.

Dammit! I was about to post the same thing!

Apollyon strikes again. Phone Post

MAN LEWIS' CHOICE OF TRAINING FACILITIES HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH ME. I HAVE GIVEN HIM A LIST OF THE BEST PLACES IN OKLAHOMA AND CAN GET HIM IN ANY OF THE BEST PLACES IN THE COUNTRY. HE CANNOT LEAVE HIS HOME WITHOUT MOVING HIS FAMILY. HE IS KIND OF STUCK WHERE HE IS UNTIL WE GET A CALL FROM A LARGER SHOW.

Jackson is black???? Well, shit that explains everything.
