dont know if its true or not but I think i love bjj posted the video on facebook and a guy commented that the bb is a training partner of his and he is in fact a bb. He said something about the guy being older than he looks and a diabetic. like i said not sure if any of that is true but I thought id share and pass it on..

I don't know the BB. Never saw him before. He triangled a gracie barra purple belt who was 30 lbs heavier the match before apparently. All I know is not everybody acts like some random tourney in a high school gym in Hartford is the mundials. Everyone was cool there and his rank has been verified by lots of people. I think blue belt was stalling and needed points taken. I kid, You're my boy blue!

Good point. What I meant was everyone at the tourney said he was legit and I guess all the people he trains with said he is. I personally do not know him or witnessed his promotion. No name either. Somebody said he had a fight in Jungle fights in Brazil but I didn't catch the details. Sorry my info is weak at best. Def wouldn't stand up to judge Judy. Somebody on our team must know his name. I'll ask around.
if there are people who know him and his rank is established
then props to an older guy getting out there...especially in a tournament setting where he maybe knew he was going to roll against YOUNGER & BIGGER lower belts.
i bet some of you higher belts' holes might pucker a little bit if a bigger and younger lower belt got put across from you in front of teammates and the local bjj scene

damn harsh trolls...i took this match never thinking i could win...i knew staying on top was my best option. i used eddie bravos butt compressor to pass, its a lockdown breaker and it works for half guard too. this guy just got done fighting and choking out a HUGE wrestler 185+ lbs so im sure he was alittle tired from that...also that wrestler just got done choking out a purple belt, so i know the wrestler was good. also ive seen the black belt train before, and i was very impressed, he also a nice guy, and i have alot of respect for him and his team mates. i beat him because i train very hard! ive only been wearing a gi for a short time, but have been doing no gi for MUCH longer. if you know anything about bjj, you have to go by the belt system...if i beat a black belt that just means im a good blue belt...that black belt has much more knowledge of bjj than i do, not to mention maybe he had a bad day, and i had a good day. now go watch ufc you damn trolls

my purpose for posting your vid was because i was curious about who that black belt is and i figured someone here might know him. not because i'm going to round up the bjj police, go kick his door down and throw down a challenge match and try to put him out of business. i was just curious because, as many have stated, he doesn't appear to be a bjj black belt.
maybe he is and maybe i/we are way off base here. but in my experience there were a lot fundamental mistakes he made that a legit black belt, regardless of how tired they are, just shouldn't make.
again, no maliciousness here, just a curious practitioner is all.

found photos of event on facebook. the black belt in question also did no gi event....seems to hit an omo plata. (maybe that was the trianle set up you said he caught.)
he seems really small...150lbs.? 5'6" you seem to have 5" height advantage. plus the weight 40 lbs?
most black belts always wear their team patch comptetion gi to a tournament...like your team link...and there were guys there wearing gracie barra patches. and when you do no gi, you usually wear a patch on your rash guard.
the black belt in question is wearing a marcello garcia trunks, and a generic rash guard. so i think maybe he is an affiliate of marcello garcia, just from the FB photos of the event.
oh yea, congrats on the win.you seem to be associated with a good school.

Nobody is trolling. I'm sure if you got the BB on here after he watched the video he'd say the same thing. He didn't look at all like a black belt.
That being said, yeah he could have been dead tired and that's why he looked so bad. I've been there in a competition and hope the video never surfaces!
