New Head of Grappling Pan-America

FILA is happy to announce that Mr. Jason Townsend, Head of Grappling Pan-America, accepted the position of competition manager for the first Youth Olympic Games that will take place in Singapore from 14 to 26 August 2010. This unique event will bring together cadets from all over the world and feature Olympic-level competitions in Greco-Roman, Freestyle, Female, and Beach Wrestling. Mr. Townsend visited the FILA headquarters last June and could briefly meet Mr. Martinetti who wished him plenty of success for the great challenge he is about to take up. In addition to run the competition in the four wrestling styles mentioned above, Mr. Townsend will bring his contribution to the development of the newly formed Singapore Wrestling Federation. He will take up his post next August and stay in Singapore until the end of September 2010.

The person appointed to replace Mr. Townsend during his stay in Singapore is Mr. Clint Kingsbury, Domestic Development Manager at the Canadian Amateur Wrestling Association. Mr. Kingsbury is highly committed to the development of grappling on the American continent through his position as FILA Referee Instructor, but also through his involvement in the organization of the first KCG Grappling International that will take place in Ottawa, Ontario on 8-9 August 2009. The tournament will be held in the Gi and No-Gi divisions and promises to be a great success thanks to the participation of Mr. DAN HENDERSON who accepted to attend the event and give a 4-hour clinic to the participants. Dan "Hendo" Henderson is a world-renowned mixed martial artist holding a record of 24-7-0 (win-loss-draw). Currently fighting for the Ultimate Fighting Championship, he also fought for Pride FC in which he won both the Welterweight and Middleweight titles and was twice a Greco-Roman Olympian in 1992 and 1996. More biographical information can be found on his official website at http://www.danhenderson.com/.

FILA wishes Mr. Kingsbury plenty of success for his new appointment as Head of Grappling Pan-America and for the KCG International. To be noted that Mr. Kingsbury will also lead the referees' course that will take place in Siauliai, Lithuania before the European and Veteran World Championships.

Congrats Mr Kingsbury

is there one of these in edmonton

Weird how a wrestler with little grappling experience is in charge of anything , grappling related.

I doubt you would see a life long BJJ guy in charge of anything wrestling related.

You would never see a BJJ guy is charge of anything wrestling related because of the bullshit that reeks in the BJJ community on a daily basis. Clint is doing great things for "grappling" in Canada/st1:place/st1:country-region. You should be honored.

You know this will not be well received despite how true it really is.

The sport of Grappling is a shared game. Judo, Sambo, Wrestling, and BJJ are the main components, be careful not to isolate one discipline. No lines should be "drawn in the sand" regardless of who is the governing body, this will only create breakdown of sportsmanship.

Some people still have not clued in to this distinction.

I have never met Clint.

I have, however, observed the following:

He is clearly passionate.
He seems diplomatic and patient with all the drama and turbulence.
He is non-confrontational.
He isn't driven by ego.
He is a stickler for details.
He suffers from workaholism.

These traits are important in anyone in a leadership position of any kind.

Congratulations on your position. All the drama and stress this job may give you, coupled with your obvious workaholism, may result in bad things for your free time and relationships, but congrats none-the-less. :)

Youre a fucking dick Robin, way to go.
