Fedor wants to be a trainer; what's he going to teach?

Russia is one of the top Judo countries, but I’m not sure what top 3 in Russia translates to in terms of world ranking. Maybe top 100?

Just look up his earlier fights or the Mir fight or any of his Sambo matches; Sambo is Judo with striking. Not hard to find.

Also he beat Ogawa who was a Judo silver medalist.

Your question makes me wonder what made Ronda so successful and doninant early in her career since you informed us it couldnt be her Judo lol.

Ronda’s judo technique is great. She actually was a world class judoka.

I am not going to deny that Fedor’s Sambo is pretty good, but again, why not train at a Sambo school then?

What made Fedor great was his speed and quickness. His striking technique was very mediocre.

Why train at a Sambo school if youre winning gold medals in Sambo events?

And id say his striking was more than mediocre, at least early in his career.

He fell in love with the knockout and just went out there throwing heavy leather later in his career; his best trait used to be a fusion of fast, heavy combinations to overwhelm the fighter in order to transition to a clinch/throw to the ground followed by heavy ground and pound.

He was a true mixed martial artist. He wanted to be a knockout artist the older he got and that was a big factor in his decline i believe.

OP is not round, he is square. That’s how edgy he is. Should change screen name to edgy mc edgyson

Fedor’s greatness was way more than speed and quickness.

His transition from striking to throws is to this day levels above anyone I have seen.
And he had probably the slickest hips at HW.
His control on the ground combined with landing damaging punches was also on another level.
And speed/quickness are largely negated on the ground, yet Fedor still managed to pound on prime Big Nog, one of the greatest grappling HWs ever.
You think there’s no technique there?

And sorry but Fedor’s striking is not as “sloppy” as many seem to believe.
There are different types of striking.
Just because something isn’t linear doesn’t mean it’s “sloppy”.
Fedor threw Russian Hooks (casting punches) in a way that complimented his style and set up his throws while also maximizing his power.
He was also more of a slip/counter puncher, meaning he was timing his counters without really blocking or retreating, generally speaking.
This is actually a more difficult way to fight than more orthodox approaches.

As an MMA or “free fighter” as Cro Cop so appropriately called Fedor – the goal is to play to your strengths. It’s not about “looking like” a world class boxer in there.

Fedor’s level of mastery as an effective fighter are 100% the result of world-class mastery of technique.
Of course this was aided by his poise and killer instinct in the ring – which are intangibles – but also something he can speak to as a coach.
The mental aspect is a huge part of fighting.

But you can’t just say “DERP Fedor was only good because was fast DERP”.

Sheesh.

Just in case some impressionable lurkers might start buying into the bullshit.

He doesnt want to be a trainer, he already is and a successful one at that. The current Bellator LHW champ is his student.

Is TS just shitty at trolling or does he not actually know Fedor is a master of sport in Sambo and Judo with multiple gold medals?

I’ll tell you this. My boxing is much better than Fedor’s.

Fedor’s technique requires Fedor’s physical attributes.

If he teaches his students, they will be in trouble.

Ah, I am mistaken. I was thinking you were being edgy. Now I firmly believe you’re either a troll or delusional.

Why?

Getting personal training from these fighters would be like a graduate school level course. If you need to know how to throw a punch correctly you can learn that in high school

His understanding of kuzushi and chaining throws together is the best MMA has ever seen

He chains his strikes with throws, and his strikes with passing better than anyone else ever.

His counters and timing are incredible

The point you’re driving at is a weird one. “Some people are good at doing things but not explaining them.” Sure. But Fedor has a very technical style of coaching from the translated seminars I’ve watched.

Thinking he’s not technically proficient just shows that you either a) don’t understand technical proficiency or b) are blinded by some dislike of Fedor

Bicep smash → ouchi gari → knee tap.

Being able to any of these to a static opponent is difficult. Chaining then like this on a world class fighter… Is a level of skill and timing that very few have attained, if any other than Fedor
