Remember getting punched in the face isn’t for everyone….lol
I think that’s one of the things that allows it to draw in that crowd.
I like the combat bjj. You have to deal with punches on the street or if you go mma.
Just likes there’s wrestling then wrestling with subs and wrestling mma.
All are unique.

No shit but it’s only a small piece of the puzzle in current MMA. Having basic sub defence is a prerequisite at high levels of MMA, but otherwise the role of BJJ’s importance in MMA is diminishing.
And from a hand to hand self defence point of view it’s also only a small part of a much bigger picture as well. With BJJ alone someone would still stand a good chance of getting their ass handed to them in a self defence altercation.
You still need to train BJJ nonstop. Jiujitsu itself is grappling, high level guys are training grappling (BJJ) almost everyday. Hell look at Khabibs guard, its pretty damn nasty.
As far as self defense. Of course you aren’t going to be a world beater, but you’ll be better than you were before and certainly able to handle yourself against people you generally wouldn’t think you would be able to.
Yo ma nigga, whatchu know about Sambo 70?

Khabib had a sick guard long before he started training with Brazilians.
I think I found a photo of the place you are describing.

So you literally just added the stipulations that:
they have to be good
they also have to have wrestling
they also have to have striking awareness
BJJ on its own for hobbiests is not nearly enough.
You essentially just proved my point.

I take two guys of relatively equal physicality.
1 guy trains Sambo for 4 years
the other trains BJJ for 4 years
Who most likely wins in an MMA or street fight?
Be honest.
That looks like John Wick lol! I know that’s not the place I trained.

I know the guys who were in that scene.

In MMA, probably the BJJ guy because it would certainly go to the ground and Sport Sambio doesn’t allow chokes and that’s a big deal.
A guy who isn’t proficient in chokes on the ground is at a real disadvantage.
Sambo guy could win too, maybe with a leg lock, but I would bet on the BJJ guy. Much deeper positional game in BJJ.
On the street throws would be more of a factor and in favor of Sambo.

Combat Sambo is the closest thing to a street fight imo.
Sport Sambo there are no chokes. Only arm locks and straight leg locks along with pins. Also, lots of calf slicer and bicep crushers.
If the fight is prolonged the bjj guy will eventually catch the sambo practitioner on the ground unless he gets fucked up by a throw or slam.

lol no way it would “certainly go to the ground” unless the Sambo guy dropped him with strikes first. A Sambo fighter is going to be a better wrestler than the BJJ guy, just be a little more limited on the ground but have a full advantage on the feet and better able to dictate where the fight goes.
BJJ guy gets his shit pushed in 8/10.
I think Steve K was in that along with a few of his guys

A gym I train at had like 4 guys in the scene. The coach runs USA Sambo.
MMA rules?
This is dumb because we already know elite Sambo guys like Khabib and Islam smoke elite BJJ guys like Oliveira and Ramos in MMA.
Sambo >> BJJ
