How good was Marvin Hagler?

WAR INDIO!!!

Hagler was the first guy that was my "favorite" boxer

I think a lot of guys overrate Hagler's power. He had power for sure, but what he really did was drown dudes.

I love Hagler , but he wasn't really a one punch ko artist

Hagler is one of my all time faves.  The guy was awesome.  The build up to the John The Beast Mugabi fight was amazing.  At one press conf, Hagler said:  If he's the beast, then I'm the monster and the monster will feast on the beast.  And that's what he did.  Mugabi was never the same after that.

He was simply mahhhvelous

graciesrule - Hagler was one of my all time favorites. Not a one punch ok guy, just wore you down. He didn't lift just lots of push-ups and he was a laborer while he was working his way up the rankings. His roadwork was insane 8-10 miles runs a day, twice a month 15 miles. Too much IMO. Have his boxing workout from 25 yrs ago.
can you share his workout please!!! Phone Post 3.0

A greats of all time at MW. One thing he did really well which does not get mentioned much was keep his chin tucked in. Not getting hit flush on the point of the chin really helped his reputation of having a granite jaw.

One of my all time favorites.

It just can't be said enough.

Malvert the Janitor - Will any era in combat sports compare to what boxing had in the '80s??? Phone Post 3.0
I seriously doubt it, as with everything else greed and corruption eventually ruin it.

The days of turning on your TV Saturday afternoon and watching some of the greatest championship boxing matches to ever take place are long gone.

The 80's was an amazing time to be a witness to some of the best ever. Phone Post 3.0

I agree 100% with all the posts referring to the 80s as a golden age for boxing fans. Hagler /Hearns was an amazing fight to see then, the sheer output of energy and toughness of those two was something to see.

Personal Trivia: I watched that fight live with Charles McGregor, the actor from Superfly and Blazing Saddles(he was the guy in the quicksand with Cleavon Little at the beginning:

Man, that guy knew boxing history and was great to watch fights with. RIP,Charles.

UGCTT_Charles Bronsons Mustache - Hard to compare eras and fighters from different weiht classes.
But, Hagler was certainly a badass, with an iron chin and will.

He played Fat Freddy.

Crazy Marvin Hagler fact - he was never knocked down in 67 fights.

He was ruled knocked down by Roldan, but it is very clear he was pulled down as he slipped.

On a side note, he also walked through some serious bombs from Roldan in that fight.
