buddie - ^ Machida was more dominant, but Shogun survived a much tougher test. I know Bader is tough but Vera was hungry last night and came to win! I thought that the guillotine in the first might have totally gassed Shogun and any fighter would have left a lot of himself in the ring after the war with Henderson.
Shogun was more impressive because he overcame a bigger challenge, Machida looked untouchable.
Bader is ranked #6 Vera # 30 (fightmatrix) Bader is ranked top 10 in all the polls I checked. Vera is not even ranked in some polls .Bader has wins over Rampage and Little Nog .( 2 of the guys that the pride nut - huggers say are so great) Vera has no such wins in the last 5 years.

I get the feeling that people that don't trane or really pay attention to the fights tend to dislike Machida. I could be wrong, but I don't understand how someone that really watches fights could find the guy boring. His standup is the most unique in the UFC and even things like his footwork and blocking of punches is incredible to watch. His performance last night was nearly perfect.

I pay attention and I can appreciate what it takes to be so elusive and the timing he has and I also know he had more strikes land than Bader I just don't like his style doesn't mean I can't appreciate the finer points I just find it boring just my opinion

This guy makes a good point and people in this thread should really shut the fuck up and nod their heads to what the TS is saying here. Machida took a counter-striking style against a timid striker in Bader, which created a rather bland fight until Machida landed a counter to put Bader to sleep. That is simply telling the truth. People need to pull their heads out of their ass and just admit that, without that awesome counter, the fight wasn't really that action-packed up to that point, which is fine. I'm an MMA fan, I enjoyed it, but I can see how a casual fan would not. It doesn't change the fact Machida is awesome though, but the fight to that point was not a jaw-dropper like the others on the card.
