Paulo Costa starts the Jake Paul pay revolution!

If fighters unionize they get more $ from ufc yes but the undercard fighters will vote themselves part of Conor’s $.
And that will make the stars opt out of the Union so I just don’t see it working. Especially when they can follow the path set by Jake Paul & belong to no org & get paid.
People by the ppv to see a couple names and half the rest of the guys on the guard would fight for free just to be in the ufc.
In big boxing cards people don’t say “goin to watch boxing” they say “going to watch the fury fight” (or whoever)
In the ufc we say “gonna watch the ufc” to see whoever’s on it unless it’s a rare certain fighter.
It’s just a different model than boxing. The ufc brand is more famous than mma itself.
Maybe there’s elements I don’t see but once again… don’t see it working

The UFC contract is the dream for most fighters. Unless you are a fighter that can be a star in the more niche markets like RIZIN, KSW etc… where are you going to go? PFL has nothing to offer say an aging Anderson Silva or Dan Henderson, there is a reason they sign the six and eight fight deals.

Bellator is only going to outbid the UFC on certain fighters they want. ONE will only be interested in select fighters as well.

The long term UFC deal is still the most lucrative deal most fighters will be offered, for all the UFC’s faults… that is just the landscape.

Orrrrrrrrr he is mentally broken still from his first loss. That shit is real, sometimes people never recover mentally from the first beating they receive. Haha Francis was a perfect example after Stipe fight he was wrecked mentally for the Lewis fight but luckily he got in under control the next fight. I might be wrong but it’s a possibility

Bro you make a statement hen immediately disprove it lol

That would be doing him a favor. He’ll probably get removed from the rankings if he refuses their next offer.

The UFC is quickly moving towards lower tier talent as the bulk of it’s fights.

There is space at the top for maybe 5% or 10% top talent but the bulk of the cards are people no one ever heard of with minimal fights.

That might work for free TV events but it used to be that every fight on a PPV meant something and was top tier talent.

Not anymore.

The UFC needs to review its PPV and free TV matchmaking and trim it’s fighters under contract or it will continue to become a vanilla product.

I haven’t paid for a show in I don’t know how long.

The Zuffa product is quickly becoming far less about the fighters and more about the brand and the product itself.

Zuffa has always been about Zuffa for sure but these days they just plug people in. It doesn’t even matter what fighter very much any more.

Zuffa is pretty much just saying, “Look! Fights!” and then walking away with the money.

Look someone who understands the business model. UFC literally stole Vince Mcmahon’s playbook.

The UFC figured out that spending a lot of money advertising and marketing single stars will backfire because there are too many variables to losing in MMA. They decided to market the sport less on fighters and more on the volume of fights to satiate the public’s bloodlust. Thus the “UFC” itself became the star of the show and that is where all of the branding, promotion and marketing goes. They were smart to realize that to make sure they were viewed as the #1 promotion they needed to have a roster that contained a significant portion of the world’s best fighters.

I think UFC is on it’s way down too. Analytics don’t mean shit when nobody cares about the product itself.
