Apologies!!!
Now that I have learned that 'grand master sensei Seth Sykes' is involved, I take back everything I have said.

"For kenpo/jiu jitsu class, black belts are worn. For gracie jiu jitsu, blue belts are worn."
I understand that this is not a actual kenpo belt. But this guy made up his own art according to the fb post...
Apparently it's called kenpo/jiu jitsu and they change belts for gjj.
If the martial arts world needed one thing it was another hybrid karate style. We were really lacking in schools that had their own grandmasters inventing a offshoot. I'm glad he was able to fill that space.
;) yea sucks for those girls but... that's a bjj belt.
Wonder if any legit kenpo leniage is involved at all?
Here's kenpo rank.
Again there's no tape over the red because the red is a rank
I'm admittedly not familiar with kenpo but I doubt that their black belts would be so worn out from kenpo
This thread made me realize something; Rener & Ryron Gracie are the new Al & Will Tracy.
If you are not familiar, Al & Will Tracy were the Kenpo guys who pretty much started all this "learn by video tape" stuff, way back when. They sold franchises and were excellent businessmen who were great at using their marketing and charisma to get people to affiliate under the Tracy banner.
They raked in the money with video testing, private lesson add-ons and by making "certified instructors" quickly.
Decades ago the Tracy's wrote the book on all this stuff the Gracies are doing today.
Eventually though, the Tracy name became synonymous with "McDojo" and it more or less destroyed the brand they built. Most of their schools --often headed by poorly/quickly trained instructors-- closed. But, the Tracy's got rich first.
The more things change, the more they stay the same.
checkuroil - I have the great honor of having trained kenpo for many many years of my life as well. The belts they were wearing were not kenpo related.
The stripes are sewn into the belt for Kenpo. They're not placed over the red bar. The red bar is the indication of the 5th° and they are too young to be a 5th°. Then to put tape over the 5th° would make no sense.
Obvious fraud trying to masquerade as honest mistake. This is how they always go about doing it. They start to play the ignorance and confusion card.
Fuck rener
I get that people need to get paid and I also realize he is a better instructor, practitioner, businessman, and fighter than I am...
But fuck him anyway
UGCTT_Fillthy - Is there any evidence of 'belt transfer'? I get that Sensei Seth created his own martial art that uses BJJ black belts...but any evidence that these girls are guilty of doing anything other than wearing their Helio100 gis when teaching bastard Kenpo?
Nobody has stated that Seth used BJJ black belts so I don't know where you got that from. These girls wore BJJ black belts and that is the issue here. I don't believe for a minute they did not know the belts they wore in the pics were BJJ black belts.
Pretended ignorance to maintain plausible deniability. If you present yourself as a BJJ blackbelt to the extent that a reasonable new customer would assume that that's what you are then it's on you for the misrepresentation, IMO.
(Note, not in a legal sense but in a moral one.)
"I just wore the white coat, carried a stethoscope, and offered exams. I didn't really SAY I was a doctor." Push-lease, we all know what they are doing.
Similarly, if you happen to drive a white Crown Vic, intentionally set off your car alarm and tail people to make them pull over, and then get out to merely talk to them, you will indeed be arrested for impersonating a police officer. Despite the fact that it was a civilian car and a Best Buy car alarm.
Akston - Fuck renerThis.

On a separate note I can't think of anyone in the BJJ world who is better at connecting with and empowering an audience than Rener is. He is a true master in that regard.
Aaron Lapointe -Or infuriating his whole family

Aaron Lapointe -
The problem is it's so hard for some people to relinquish their black belt status in one art and acknowledge to the outside world that they are white belts in something else. Some people can do this (e.g., the All American Wrestler who puts on a white belt and lines up with the other white belts), but countless others can't or don't want to.
I heard Renner try and spin this on a pod cast debate over the weekend the last five or ten minutes of the segment, which focused on the combatives CTC program, and I'm all for most of what he was saying, but this story... NO WAY! He lost this argument and needs to recant and apologize to the listening audience for insulting their intelligence and common sense. APOLOGIZE RENNER!<br />
^ which podcast was it?
