WMMA Discussion Thread

cris cyborg will be on my radio/video internet show tonight tonight about rousey, her body image, opinion on a fight vs rousey and how they have both progressed the last few years. Also talks about gabby and her future. it's not wmma show, we have immortal matt brown, RDA, Werdum and Phil Baroni tonight as well.

ill update this with a link tomorrow.

Guess who is attending Rousey vs Correia in Brazil??

criscyborg ???? Quem vai estar no UFC 190 no Rio de Janeiro para dar suporte para nossa atleta Brasileira @bethecorreia vs @Rondarousey Nos vemos lá!!! Who will be at UFC 190 in Rio de Janeiro to support for our Brazilian athlete @bethecorreia! see you there!!! #brasil #criscyborg #ufc190 ????

I am starting to wonder if this is something that has all been bubbling in the background for some time.

Why is Cris flying to Brazil for this fight?

Will there be a confrontation if Rousey wins?

Cris is no where near making 135lb yet so has the UFC agreed to 140 Champ vs Champ??

So many questions so little time!!!

Ronda getting ready for her fight on Aug 1st. I know it has been mentioned before but I do agree that after the IV ban getting down to 135 might be a problem for Ronda

You hope

FORCE Fox Five

Considering Ronda is the only 135er who needs help from Mike Dolce.....

She didn't need help from Dolce when she went from 152 to 135 with no preparation whatsoever on TUF.  Heck, she even took a break mid-cut to whoop Miesha Tate in a rock climbing contest.  Clearly, she wasn't all that drained.

This, I don't think there was an unaired scene where she hooks up to an iv before getting back to coaching Phone Post 3.0

UFC bantamweight Jessamyn Duke wears her heart on her sleeve. She shows it in all of her fights, win or lose.

So when she faces Elizabeth Phillips once again at UFC on FOX on July 25 (Duke won their first bout via guillotine choke when the two were still fighting in the amateur ranks), she knows how much she has improved since that 2012 bout, but expects nothing less from Phillips. Plus, there’s likely a little something extra for her opponent this time around.

“Just speaking for myself, when I've lost a fight to someone and I got a rematch, I came back with a vengeance and with a whole new motivation,” Duke says. “And I think, just knowing that she's coming, not just with something to prove, but she's probably coming wanting to get some revenge for the loss and to make up for what happened before, that's something you can't underestimate or take lightly.”

It’s not that Duke needs any extra motivation. One of the members of the Four Horsewomen team led by bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey, Duke feels like a win is more than imperative.

“There can be no other outcome,” she said. “I'm on a mission. I've got goals and I intend on achieving them. Winning this next fight is the first step in achieving those goals.”

Duke grew up somewhat shy in rural Letcher County, Kentucky. By seventh grade, the 5’11” fighter was already a foot taller than the rest of her classmates, and despite what many average-height people might think, being taller is not always better.

“I was always very self-conscious about it,” she said. “I didn't want to be that tall. I didn't want to be that much taller than everyone. I just kind of wanted to fit in and fly under the radar and not be singled out. It made me a bit shy and a bit introverted.”

That shyness bled into her early training in mixed martial arts. There were times when Duke found herself in situations that she didn’t really believe she could get out of, and in this game, self-doubt will beat you more often than any opponent.

For people who know Jessamyn today, that might come as a bit of a surprise, but like most professional athletes, a journey of self–discovery is always something that comes before greatness. And when we’re talking the fight game, one almost always has to go through hell before they can get to heaven.

“One thing I found out about myself was that I didn't realize that I had so much heart,” she said. “In my mind I thought I was afraid, but then after it was all said and done, I always had this determination to find a way to end up on top and to end up winning or always coming back and just never giving up. And that was something that gave me confidence. You know, realizing that about myself helped me work through my lack of confidence where I'm like, if I literally will not stop, no one can stop me. I will find a way. And that goes for my personal life as well.”

Duke is cerebral, both inside the Octagon and out. As a woman, reconciling life as a fighter is simultaneously clarifying and confusing. But she says there’s nothing more pivotal in her life than fighting, and there are so many things in her life that are “microcosms of fighting.”

“I can relate pretty much everything that happens to me to being in a fight; the emotions that I feel and things that happen to my body and my brain,” she says. “That's why I love fighting more than anything because it's the core of all of those things, whether it be sex, or enjoying something amazing like good food – or it could be anything that gets reactions from me – it almost all goes back to fighting.”

After suffering a first round TKO at the hands of Leslie Smith in her last fight, Duke underwent hand surgery. She’s been itching to get back in the ring ever since.

LOL HAHAHA! OK, so I'm the one obsessed about the freakshow of WMMA lol. You see the amount of coverage this thread provides Cyborg...? Yeah, well NONE of that comes from me; just 2-3 goofs who are legitimately obsessed with the worst thing to show up in the brief history of WMMA.

Anyway, you/others constantly holding on to the mistaken idea, of Rousey's drawing power, somehow remaining dependant on the MMA bubble... and moronically sticking to the lie of a free TV Cyborg, showcasing a legit drawing power potential of her own too, LOL.

This is crazy talk when you see just how hard it is for legit/elite guys to draw decent numbers behind a PPV wall; and genuinely makes me wonder, what the fuxk are people talking about around here, to hold belief in a career TV flop like Cyborg, ever being relevant to positively effecting the drawing power of Rousey....?

The mainstream TV audience, turned their back on the prospect of wanting to take part in the female freakshow element of WMMA, years ago. This never being more evident now, at UFC 184, where the MMA bubble initially crapped all over an event, that the mainstream would then help to propel towards being one of the biggest cards of the year.

High 600k buy rates, strong gate, in a weak LA market, and people still want to believe Cyborg's important in this new landscape lol.

Another rambling message from Cris Cyborg's personal stalker. What are you trying to say Karnak? You're upset that Dana thinks Cyborg vs Rousey would be the biggest fight in WMMA history? You're wondering why Dana doesn't realize that Correia vs Rousey is obviously a much bigger fight than Cyborg vs Rousey?

Cyborg talking about her lips and booty being all natural. How overall fight game. How she has improved and how ronda has improved. How her body would change and how she would not want it to change at 135lbs. How she will beat Ronda, her new female fitness program Pink Belt and more, with the Champ Cris Cyborg

Tru,

Thank you for posting this interview. I will vote you up again after 24hrs

Cris mentioned in the interview that Amber Leibrock wants to fight her. Amber Leibrock  made her pro debut at Invicta 13 and KO'd Marina Shafir. I appreciate Amber's ambition but with respect Cris is not Marina and she needs to get more experience before she even thinks about fighting Cris

thanks, I need to wait 24 hours for you as well lol. Does Invicta have anyone ready for Cyborg at this point? I wonder if a 140lbs catch weight fight vs miesha is possible pending the outcome of her fight with Eye. Win or lose, I want the cyborg vs rousey fight to happen. It's good for the sport IMO. Just will bring more eyes and exposure to wmma.

In my opinion  the  fighter who might be next for Cris is Latoya Walker. A 5-0 FW who defeated Peggy Morgan via decision but also has a amateur boxing background. Interesting note about Latoya, for her last camp one of her coaches was Evangelista Cyborg so if she does fight Cris, she will obviously have some background which may or may not work to her advantage depending on the current  relationship between Evangelista and Cris but I think they are on good terms

Latoya

However, I would like to see Cris fight at 140lb for her next fight while the FW fighters in Invicta  have a number 1 contenders fight. I posted earlier that Cris will be in attendance for Rousey vs Correia but is a reason behind this other than Cris  wanting to be in Brazil, watch the fight and  see family?

I wouldnt mind seeing Cris fight Meisha but if Miesha loses on Sat, what would be the motivation for her to fight Cris unless it will be for another shot against Rousey but what happens when she loses against Cris? I assume some will say that she is doing what Ronda doesnt want to do . In my opinion, the UFC should open the challenge to everyone in the 135lb division adding the stipulation of a  possible title shot and more money  and see who accepts the challenge to fight Cris

Betwithme - Tru,

Why did you edit the cyborg video so the viewers don't know which question she is answering? Phone Post 3.0

she repeats the question in the answers.
I asked her if she put on the weight right away after her fight last week or is already training.

I asked if she trained with gabby garcia.

Why she tweeted in support on Ronda winning the Espy

Who she might fight next and when

To describe how she is a complete fighter even though she doesn't always display it because she likes violent fights.

About if she can make 135lbs and is she really going to retire in 3 years.

Even though Ronda has improved a lot, Can she still beat her.

Anything you want to tell the fans or to plug.

oh yeah..and I was staring at her lips and had to ask, are you lips real?
