DalyDentedDecimated'sDome -DaltDented, voted up--that's exactly the Situation Claire finds herself in,Ray Elbe - ^^^was ranked #1 in the world for Muay Thai 2 straight years, went up a weight class to challenge Miriam nakamoto for her wbc belt, prolly around a 30-4 record pro Muay Thai fights and undefeated in mma, it's a tough business to make a living in^^^
Ray, question. Do you think it's smart for Invicta to sign girls from far-ass away? Their fighter pay is microscopic, small, small, like definitely less than $5000, for newbs to Invicta it's about $1500.
Think of the pacific islanders like Faith from Zealand, the Inoue Jap girl....and if they hired this girl from Luxemborg....
their airfare is MORE than their show money!
Should they hire more americans and mexcians, canadians? that is, local? Invicta seems to have a weak biz plan, they can't fill seats which would bring in extra $$ for fighter pay or expansion or whatever.
Even while living in Thailand, she got very few opportunities, as Asian fight promotions really don't see the marketing value in bringing a "white girl" to defeat their local or international talent.
Claire is in a unique position, as she is truly a world class athlete in combat sports, however with no real local promotions in Luxembourg to build her resume, it makes it difficult to get noticed on an International stage even with MMA wins in Australia, Singapore, China, etc.
Invicta is more than just a regional feeder show however, as you can see with Rowdy Beth, and Faith Van Duin--they are essentially the premier league for WMMA...and if you take that one step further, the feeder show for the UFC.
Meisha Tate was honest when she said that the Reebok deal is biased towards men, because realistically the UFC has just recently opened its doors for women. It's unfortunate but there are several fighters like Claire, who were just a "bit"before their time, to really get an opportunity to showcase high level skills on a large stage.
Claire is still fighting Muay Thai, and very open to a return to MMA however, so I hope like Germaine De Randamie, Miriam Nakamoto and a few of the other premier strikers she gets a chance to return to MMA with a premier organization
With Invicta you have to believe the investors are seeing a long term profit in WMMA and not just the short term return of each individual card...
